A Midsummer Night’s Dream (Part 1 of 3)

All our cribs are transitional in design. Effectively, this means, that your imagination is the limit, as far as theme, colors and décor are concerned. All the nurseries we have covered in this category over the last several months have been stunning, to say the least. Beautiful harmonies with a few bold touches – our évolur moms and dads have spun magic with our Auroras, our Juliennes and our Windsors.

This week, the star of this particular series is Yvette King’s baby girl Avery Elizabeth King’s Sawyer nursery. Our Sawyer Collection is possibly the most unobtrusively elegant collection amongst all our collections. And this week, we’ve discovered that it also lends itself wonderfully well to bohemian chic décor. And this discovery is all due to the very lovely Yvette King.

The nursery features a warm and very light grey walls. The Sawyer finish in use is Distressed White. Everything else in this room are breathtaking splashes of pure, luminous colors. The highlight of the nursery is a floral monogram – A for Avery. Just look at that! Isn’t it magnificent?

We don’t want to give away too much. This nursery has to be seen. No words or descriptions can possibly do it justice. On Wednesday, you will hear all about the nursery from Yvette King herself! So, wait for it!

Mother’s Day Vignette – Christine Lakin

Thank you Christine Lakin. For taking the time out answer these questions for us! Christine chose the Cheyenne Collection in Storm Grey for her little baby girl’s nursery. We covered this lovely room here and here.

1. What you are most grateful for this Mother’s Day?
My family, my health and wine when things get tough.

2. What makes this Mother’s Day extra special?
Watching all the changes my daughter Georgia makes on a daily basis and how much she’s grown into a little human with a big personality since my first Mothers Day.

3. What plans you have for Mother’s Day?
None! (That I know of!) There’s usually something up my husband’s sleeve. Just to spend the day with my family and leave work in the background is quality time well spent.

4. Is there anything specific you would like for Mother’s Day?
Morning cuddles with my baby and coffee. Maybe a breakfast sandwich. Some time playing st the beach. A bubble bath with a glass of bubbly… doesn’t that sound like a perfect day?

Well, Happy Mother’s Day Christine! From all of us at the DOM Family.

Mother’s Day Vignette – Amy Davidson

We covered Amy Davidson’s baby boy’s nautical themed Cheyenne Nursery in September last year. Read about it here and here and here! For Mother’s Day, we caught up with her with a few quick questions:

1. What you are most grateful for this Mother’s Day?
Lennox is older it almost seems more “real.” I am so grateful to be Lennox’s mommy. I can’t think of a more amazing gift I could have been given. I am forever grateful 🙏

2. What makes this Mother’s Day extra special?
I’d have to say what makes this Mother’s Day extra special is my bond with Lennox. It grows stronger and stronger every day and he is saying mama! He was not saying that last year LOL! So we will be celebrating Mama’s Day!! ❤

3. What plans you have for Mother’s Day?
We haven’t made any plans yet. I think what would make me happy is a nice brunch with my family, possibly a walk to the farmers market where Lennox can enjoy the animals at the petting zoo and some playtime at the park. That’s pretty much a perfect day for me.

4. Is there anything specific you would like for Mother’s Day?
Honestly, I don’t need any gifts for Mother’s Day. I know I’ve said it before, but Lennox is the most amazing gift I could ever receive. I don’t need something material I just need hugs and kisses from my squishy baby boy.

Well, Happy Mother’s Day to you too Amy! From all of us at the DOM Family.

Mother’s Day Vignette – Jenn Brown

We covered Jenn Brown’s baby boy Rhett Jameson’s Santa Fe animal-themed, rustic chic nursery September last year. You can read about it here and here. We thought it’d be fun to catch up with her for Mother’s Day and find out what she’s planning to do.

1. What you are most grateful for this Mother’s Day?
As I now enter my 2nd Mother’s Day as a Mom of two, I’d say I’m most grateful for my family. Over the past two years we’ve gone from just my husband and I to a family of four!  We are so blessed.

2. What makes this Mother’s Day extra special?
I’m so happy that the whole family gets to be together this Mother’s Day!  Wes and I have such hectic filming schedules, so there’s no real guarantee that we’ll be together on holidays or special days like these.  My mother lives down the street so we’ll all celebrate the day together.

3. What plans you have for Mother’s Day?
Sunday will be a day of relaxing at this house! We’ve got lots of travel plans coming up so we’ve decided to take the boys and my mother to the beach or pool, then a BBQ with some close friends.

4. Is there anything specific you would like for Mother’s Day?
Just a big hug and kiss from my boys.  That’s all a mom needs really!

Well, Happy Mother’s Day to you too Jenn! From all of us at the DOM Family.

Mother’s Day Vignette – DeAnna Pappas Stagliano

She picked up the beautiful Windsor Collection for her baby boy’s nursery and made magic with it. We covered it in October last year. You can read about it here and here.

We caught up with the lovely DeAnna a few days ago for a few quick questions and here’s what she had to say:

1. What you are most grateful for this Mother’s Day?
I am most grateful for my happy, healthy family. Some days, it’s hard being a parent and as a mother, it’s all about the babies needs. They come first. But at the end of it all, my 2 loves are as happy as can be and they love each other. We are truly blessed.

2. What makes this Mother’s Day extra special?
This Mother’s Day is extra special because my sister in law had her first child last year so we plan on being together on Mother’s Day! It’s special to share the day with her.

3. What plans you have for Mother’s Day?
We plan to let the guys take care of everything!

4. Is there anything specific you would like for Mother’s Day?
I just like a day off on Mother’s Day. I spend every other day of the year worrying, making meals, changing diapers, and cleaning up. I would like to just do nothing!

Well, Happy Mother’s Day DeAnna! From all of us at the DOM Family.

An Aurora Nursery to Die for (Part 2 of 2)

As always, our next instalment of Baby Alexis’ Aurora Nursery features an interview as well as a gallery of pictures. Read, look and enjoy!

What was your inspiration for the nursery design and décor?
I love decorating and finding things that go together and create a beautiful environment in a unique and fun way. I wanted my daughter’s room to look beautiful, girly, and very special. I wanted girly but not childish and this was my vision.

What drew you to évolur over other nursery brands?
After looking at various brands, Evolur just looked stylish, beautiful and most importantly built well.

Did the room pose any design challenges?
Only worry i had was fitting all the pieces without making it look crowded but it worked out perfect.

Did you and your spouse agree on style, or did you blend styles and how?
My husband loved working on his little princess’ room. We do everything together and painting his daughter’s walls, ceiling, installing the medallion, the chandelier, the crown molding…he just takes such pride in it and we both love every piece of her room. We joke that it’s the best room in the house.

What does this color scheme mean to you?
It is our favorite place in the house. I think the fact that we put in so much time, effort, and love into the room…it truly feels precious being in there. I was unsure about the pink ceiling at first, but it’s just perfect.

What accessories did you choose and why?
I found pieces on Etsy, amazon, TJ Maxx. I wanted things to match so the grey and white rug matches the grey walls and furniture. The crystals on the curtain rods match the crystals on the chandelier and night stand lamp. Glam meets comfort, as I say. Her custom name sparkles like diamonds to go along with the crystals. The butterflies around her name are also placed on the lamp and curtain rod to tie it all together. My sister in law bought the bedding at Buy Buy Baby and it perfectly matches the pink and white tones.

What is your favorite piece or design element in the nursery?

I have to say the vinyl tree…tree means strength, family, growth to me and my husband…and i hope it will to our daughter.

Have you thought of how you will use the nursery pieces down the road and can you tell us?
We have a whole plan of how we will utilize design pieces once we convert it to full size bed.

Is this your first baby?
Alexis is our first baby.

Something interesting that happened before, during or after the pregnancy?
Everyone was convinced we were having a boy as my husband is one of four boys and all his brothers have boys except for 1 niece. I wanted a boy too but finding out we were having a girl was amazing and I wouldn’t change it for the world. We adore our princess to no end.

What one word comes to mind when you step into the nursery?
WOW! My husband and I still cant believe how it all came together. We would have talks about what we envisioned and wanted and would worry if we would ever find all the pieces imagined…and we did…when you love and want something…it comes true! We are so blessed!

An Aurora Nursery to Die for (Part 1 of 2)

“Alexis’ room is to die for and all thanks to Aurora beautiful collection.” – Baby Alexis’s mom, Marta’s words. We couldn’t agree more and honestly, it covers pretty much what this awesome nursery looks like.

This nursery is pinks and ivories and greys – all blending into each other perfectly to create a space that is harmonious, luxurious and incredibly, overwhelmingly beautiful and undeniably, feminine. The white coved walls are a cool grey with a pink ceiling. While, in general, this is a difficult style to pull off (different colored walls and ceiling), with this room, it works perfectly to echo as well as off-set at the same time, the pinks and ivories of the room beneath it.

The Aurora collection that has been put to work in this nursery is in the ivory lace finish. Marta and Vincent have picked up the crib (of course), double dresser, armoire and nightstand. The items have been arranged around the room – one against each wall and serve as focus points for the rest of the decor.

The wall against which the crib is set is decorated with a tree decal. One adjacent wall stations the double dresser with a changing pad. Opposite to this is the armoire set between two tall windows that provide daytime lighting. Opposite the crib is a glider – set against the corner and by the window. The nightstand is placed conveniently on the right.

This nursery is has all the accessories and comforts a little princess could possible want. The wall decorations consist of the aforementioned decal and a sparkly pink stencil of Alexis’ name surrounded by butterflies in a darker pink. These, along with the pink of the ceiling, serve as perfect foils to break the potential monotony of the grey. The tall windows are draped with pink, multi-tier pleated curtains with crystal curtain rod ends.

Other accessories include a white pile rug with grey harlequin diamonds in the weave, pretty pink cushions and matching ivory, pink and grey soft toys and a few other butterfly-themed knick-knacks placed strategically around the room. An eye-catching lamp rests upon the nightstand and and an even more eye-catching crystal chandelier hangs from the center of the ceiling. The other functional accessories include pink-clad and grey bins and baskets placed appropriately.

In our next post, we will bring to you a mini-interview with Marta and more pictures. Wait for it!

Baby Faye Anne’s Aurora Rhapsody (Part 2 of 3)

Part 2 of our coverage of Baby Faye Anne’s Aurora Nursery features, as always in our 3-part series articles, a mini-interview with the happy parents. Before you read on, take a moment to reflect – isn’t Faye Anne the sweetest sounding name ever? 🙂

Corey says:

Faye is our second child. We have a son, Ryan, who is 2 years old. He has done a wonderful job with Faye! Each day he gets more loving towards her. When we first brought her home from the hospital, he had a hard time sharing mom and dad’s attention. He has started back at daycare and that has really helped him warm up and not get so emotional over little things.

Faye’s pregnancy was completely different from Ryan’s. I would say the most interesting thing was not being able to eat veggies while pregnant. I am a runner and, for the most part, eat very clean. However, for those 9 months I just wanted Mexican food! The delivery was flawless. She weighed 6 pounds 14 ounces as opposed to Ryan’s 7 pounds 14 ounces. Since she was so much smaller, hard labor lasted for about 5 minutes and my recovery time was about 2 weeks. Even though she is our second child we were very nervous with when it came to holding her. She was so tiny compared to Ryan we were afraid we would break her, lol!

What was your inspiration for the nursery design and décor?
The inspiration for the nursery came from a lot of Pinterest. We decided we wanted to have her back wall shiplap. I knew the colors were going to be gray, pink, and ivory. I never really wanted a theme for the room. I envisioned having multiple things come together to create this classic, shabby-chic room.

From there I had to decide on a crib that I liked and that went with the picture I had in my head. My mother-in-law had actually found the crib online. As soon as I saw it, I knew that was the crib I wanted for her room. I purchased it immediately. I loved the delicate touch of the bow in the center of the crib, and I felt that it really went with what I was looking for with the room. When the crib arrived and we put it together, I fell in love.
Because we were so pleased with the crib, we decided to get the dresser (actually my mother-in-law purchased that as a Christmas gift for us). I was and am very impressed with the quality of the furniture! I know that it will last.

Did the room pose any design challenges?
The major design challenge was the wall decor. When we purchased the color, it was gray. When we started painting, it magically turned to a blue gray. I had decided that I wasn’t going to purchase more paint…it was going to have to work.
Luckily when we painted the shiplap and put up the boards, it calmed down the blue. I couldn’t make up my mind for wall decor. I have a very hard time trying to determine what is best and where. My mother-in-law had purchased the mirror a few years back and it had been collecting dust. She sent a picture and I knew that it was going to be perfect. From there everything seemed to come together nicely. We made Hobby Lobby runs and Etsy purchases. The monogram and dream catcher were both purchased on Etsy. I couldn’t be happier with how they turned out.

Did you and your spouse agree on style, or did you blend styles and how?
Michael and I pretty much had the same thoughts throughout…except for the shiplap. He had to convince me to let him do it. It took a while but I finally caved, and he was right, it’s perfect. Other than that, he pretty much let me have free reign.

What is your favorite piece or design element in the nursery?

My favorite part of the nursery is the dresser and mirror combo. I just love how that came together. It completely changed the aspect of the room. There is the blanket hanging on the rocker. I had a teacher intern this last year. His wife had made that blanket for Faye. It is absolutely beautiful and I know it’ll stay with her.

What one word comes to mind when you step into the nursery?
The one word I think about with the nursery is fairy tale.

Baby Faye Anne’s Aurora Rhapsody (Part 1 of 3)

Our latest entrant in the Beautiful Nurseries category is Baby Faye’s Aurora Nursery. This nursery, with its shabby chic décor is a perfectly crafted extension of Aurora’s own design.

The nursery features cool grey walls that work as a lovely backdrop for Aurora’s ivory lace finish. The furniture pieces in this room are placed adjacent to each other. Rocker, crib, double dresser with changing station – all in neat semi-circle.

The crib itself is placed against a shiplap wall with a monogram in pink. It sits just across a tall, pink-curtained window. The rocker sits conveniently next to the crib on the left. Against the adjacent wall, next to the crib and on the right is the double dresser with a changing pad. The floor is covered in a wall-to-wall, vintage grey carpet that adds the right amount of relief and bolsters the play of ivories and pink elsewhere in the room.

The crib bedding is pink with ivory skirting with a pink and ivory, hand-made blanket.

The accessories in this nursery are of varying themes of pink and brass color. Adjacent to the rocker and mounted on the wall are a pair of angel wings with suns and a gilt-framed picture. On the opposite wall, a large mirror rests atop the dresser with its pink changing pad and pink and grey table-top accessories. Next to the mirror is a dream-catcher in pink and ivory. A bin and a basket, strategically placed, along with a few pink and ivory soft toys complete the look.

Fairy tales are made of these…
