Parker Perfect! Baby Dominic Axel Jones’ Parker Nursery (Part 2 Of 3)

Tijana Jones Boy Baby Domini Parker Nursery

As usual, part 2 of our coverage of Baby Dominic’s Parker Nursery features a mini-interview with the wonderfully talented mom, Tijana Jones.

Baby Dominic Nursery CribWhat was your inspiration for the nursery design and décor?
When we found out that we are expecting our first son, we had to switch from pink and girly mindset that we are accustomed to due to our two daughters and turn towards more manly looks. Our inspiration came from the Evolur crib and bedding we purchased. We perceive white color as clean and gentle, navy as masculine and powerful, grey as calming and orange as playful and adventurous.

What drew you to évolur over other nursery brands?
What drew us to Evolur brand are looks and functionality. We shopped at many different price points, anything from inexpensive to very expensive nursery furniture, and no furniture compared to Evolur furniture’s looks. We love the purity and clean feeling of white cribs, yet we had trouble finding white boy cribs that weren’t plain and that had a statement. Evolur Parker crib and line is bold, stylish, modern yet classic and so much more!!!The crib is very well made, and seems like it will last many years as it is convertible, and the attention to details is outstanding. The same with the Evolur Parker dresser. A lot of nursery dressers have shallow drawers, making them not so convenient after the baby is a bit older. Evolur Parker dresser has plenty of drawer space, and the drawers are also deep, making them very versatile for larger clothing items.

Did the room pose any design challenges?
The biggest challenges in our son’s nursery were previous yellowish walls and cream carpet. They didn’t match any aspect of the new nursery color scheme, so we had to redo all of that first which was a lot of work.

Did you and your spouse agree on style, or did you blend styles and how?
We agreed that we want white furniture and bold nursery. While we couldn’t agree on many pieces of nursery furniture at first,

Baby Dominic Nursery Room Design

we both loved Evolur Parker furniture line. After we purchased the crib and the dresser, selecting accessories that would complement both was easy, and we agreed on mostly everything.

What does this color scheme mean to you?
This color scheme will hopefully represent our son well. White for purity and gentleness, navy for boldness, grey for being grounded and orange for playfulness and adventure.

What accessories did you choose and why?
We chose custom made bedding by GiggleSixBaby from Etsy. The bedding encompasses all of our nursery colors and modern design, and compliments the crib’s luxurious feeling. The wall mural is made by Little Bird Wall Decals from Etsy. They customize the colors of their wall murals and will try to match the colors of any nursery if requested. The wall decals were easy to put up and added the whimsical feel. We also chose a big plush tiger sold on Amazon by Viahart, as a perfect bold addition. For book storage, we used Ikea spice storage racks that we repainted white. The plush rocker and reclining chair is made by Angel Line and purchased from Amazon, and last but not least, we chose a navy white rug that would tie the room together. The navy white plush rug is Little Love by Nojo, also purchased from Amazon.

What is your favorite piece or design element in the nursery?
Our favorite element is Evolur Parker Crib. It is the center of the whole room. Our favorite design element is the striped accent wall that we painted, as it is a labor of love and patience, and is also fun.

Baby Dominic Nursery Evolur Parker Tall ChestHave you thought of how you will use the nursery pieces down the road and can you tell us?
Yes, we selected Evolur nursery pieces not only because they are great looking, but because we plan to use them when our son is older too. We will convert the crib to the full size bed when he is older, and since the dresser has large drawers, it will be able to accommodate bigger kids clothes as well. Our furniture is mostly white with blue accents, making almost any colors and themes complimentary.

What one word comes to mind when you step into the nursery?
The very first word that comes to mind is “Wow”!!!We cannot believe that we created and decorated the nursery that feels so good to be in and we couldn’t have done it without Evolur and all the other makers of our nursery pieces and accessories. We hope our son will always know how very loved he is by his family and that he will feel great in his room!!!

Parker Perfect! Baby Dominic Axel Jones’ Parker Nursery (Part 1 of 3)

Baby Dominic main banner

Oh this is an extraordinary nursery! We just stared and stared… and stared at all the lovely photos the incredibly creative Joneses have put together for their baby boy Dominic. It’s one of those rare occurrences – the kind we love experiencing – when one of our cribs finds itself not only a source of inspiration, but also in a nursery that is beyond perfect for its design and style.

Baby Dominic Evolur Parker 5 in 1 Convertible Crib

So it is that the évolur Parker finds itself in this white, navy, grey and orange wonderland that looks like a Bridget Riley painting come to vibrant and sparkling life.

The central piece in this nursery is the Parker crib and the beautiful, hand-painted wall that the Joneses painted themselves as it’s backdrop. Over the crib is spelled Dominic’s name in a semi-formal font. A Parker tall chest and a changing station occupy the spaces to the right and left. The adjacent wall features a window and the opposite wall houses a glider.

The theme and décor of this room are what make it truly a work of art. The color scheme is a perfectly balanced white, navy, grey and orange for a bit of ‘pop’.

Animal decals and plain color areas (grey glider, navy-white area rug) are offset by geometric patterns of the furnishings – broad-striped curtains, lock-square patterned baby mattress and clean blocks of color in the form of little storage bins that fit snugly in the changing station. Baby Dominic Nursery Decor

A little whimsy in the form of a plush tiger by the window adds interest. Other accessories include wall shelves with books, a night lamp and a few toys and knick-knacks. And tying all of the room together is the navy-white area rug.

Tijana Jones says her little lad was extremely active during her pregnancy – he’s the Joneses’ third born – and even a bad virus attack could not keep him from being rather vigorous. Well, now, in his marvellously cheerful, happy nursery, we are pretty sure he’s being a real handful.

Good luck mom and dad. Good luck little Dominic. Lots of love from évolur.

The desert shall rejoice, and blossom as the rose… Baby Tatum’s California Desert Nursery

Yvette_F01

Snapshot

The desert shall rejoice, and blossom as the rose.  ~

The full quote reads: “The wilderness and the solitary place shall be glad for them; and the desert shall rejoice, and blossom as the rose.”

We don’t particularly care about the original context of this. But looking at Yvette’s latest nursery for her second born – baby Tatum – it’s easy to draw parallels with the literal meaning of this quote.

Yvette King, you may remember, was featured last year right here in our beautiful nurseries category – A Midsummer Night’s Dream. We are, of course, delighted that she chose évolur again for Tatum.

Says Yvette,

My inspiration for Tatum’s room was a Mexican zarape blanket I found at my local flea market. It was the first thing I picked out and whether I was having a girl or a boy I knew it had to go in the room. When I was young we lived in Venice, CA and some of my earliest memories are walking the boardwalk, gazing at the fun and eclectic decor, while soaking up the California Sun. I wanted her nursery to have a cool California theme and for some reason that blanket seemed to be the thread of inspiration I needed.

Love on a spring breeze – Baby Lily Grace’s Julienne nursery (Part 3 of 3)

Ok. So we won’t say “TA-DA!” again. Instead, we will leave you with an excerpt from our Q&A session with mom from mom Stacey Cohen.

“This is our first baby.  Her name is Lily Grace!  I have always adored the name Lily for years now and my grandfather who recently passed away’s name was George so we wanted to keep a G in the family in honor of him who I truly adored.”

Love on a spring breeze – Baby Lily Grace’s Julienne nursery (Part 2 of 3)

“TA-DA!” again folks! As is custom, in our Part 2 of the 3-part nursery feature of Baby Lily Grace’s Julienne nursery, here is mom Stacey Cohen talking to us about the nursery and what inspired it and what she means to do with it in the future.

What was your inspiration for the nursery design and décor?
Pink! Just kidding- well, not really.  I wanted this to be a room fit for a little princess. I had gotten some inspiration off of Pinterest, like I’m sure we all have at some point but honestly it all just kind of came together for me. I would go to HomeGoods a lot and find pieces that worked together.  From the beginning I knew I wanted to do a pink, white and gold theme and I just added on a little bit more from there- I found her flowers and decorations above her crib then everything else fell into place!

What drew you to évolur over other nursery brands?
I didn’t want a baby crib, I know that sounds so silly but I wanted her to have a little princess crib and a beautiful crib that she could grow into and évolur had that! The headboard is what sold me instantaneously!

Did the room pose any design challenges?
No, not at all- I love putting colors and designs together and I’m such a girly girl that I knew this would be no issue at all!

Did you and your spouse agree on style, or did you blend styles and how?
Surprisingly, yes. We actually agreed. Usually we have some style differences but we both agreed pink was the way to go and

we loved the gray crib, dresser, and accent pieces and everything else really made the room pop.

What does this color scheme mean to you?
I just thought that pink, white, and gold would be so cute together and it turned out better than I could have dreamed.

What accessories did you choose and why?
Above her bed she has hand crafted paper flowers from Etsy which I LOVE and the flower letters are also from ETSY, the signs on the wall all are from Hobby Lobby and the 3 bookshelves are from Amazon.  It was really important to make sure she had a library (there are at least 30 more books in her closet that don’t fit on the shelves).  Every sign in her room has some sort of meaning about being special, being loved, and just being our everything!

What is your favorite piece or design element in the nursery?
My favorite piece in the entire nursery is her elephant balloon tree which is above the changing table.  We had a wedding tree (guestbook signature) for our wedding so it was important that our daughter had one too.

We had everyone sign it at her gender reveal party and then again at my baby shower.  I adore it and it’s from Peachwik.com

Have you thought of how you will use the nursery pieces down the road and can you tell us?
Yes, absolutely!  I adore the headboard in her crib, I think that when it’s time to convert her crib it will make the most beautiful bed and yes I have already bought her bedding- I couldn’t resist I saw it and it was too cute!  Right now her bedding is princess hippo’s from Pottery Barn Kids with a mobile of princess swans from Buy Buy Baby and I found princess swans at HomeGoods- too cute!  All of the pieces in her room are not “baby” pieces and aren’t things that need to be removed, taken off the wall to make that transition to when she will continue to grow.

What one word comes to mind when you step into the nursery?
Princess-Chic (Ok, I hyphenated, so I cheated) 😊

Well, that’s ok by us Stacey! 😊

Love on a spring breeze – Baby Lily Grace’s Julienne nursery (Part 1 of 3)

Think warm sunshine, the smell of freshly cut grass and colorful little flowers bobbing their bright heads in a gentle breeze. Well, hello springtime!

And that pretty much sums up Baby Lily Grace’s pretty évolur Julienne nursery.

We can’t help thinking how fortuitous, how appropriate it is for us to be featuring this lovely nursery that is all pink, white and gold in springtime. Because, to our mind, it seems to embody the very essence of what spring is all about.

The nursery is well-lit, thanks to a strategically placed window on the right corner of the wall opposite the entrance to the room. The fact that the room is not overly large coupled with the translucent chiffon drapes on the window, allows for a soft, filtered lighting that accentuates the warmth of the pink walls.

The crib, an évolur Julienne in Antique Mist finish rests against the left-hand-side wall. The wall above the head-boards is festooned with, what has now become ubiquitous, paper flowers from Etsy with Lily’s name in florals. A pink baby mobile hangs over the crib’s animal-print mattress and hippo-appliquéd quilt based on ivory white. Next to the crib, in the corner, are printed baskets with a veritable zoo of super-cute, super-cuddly stuffed animals and a pink, white-polka-dotted baby sized couch. Now, what more could a teensy little baby girl want?

Turns out, mom Stacey Cohen knows exactly what more she could want and makes sure it’s right there.

In the corner, by the window and against the opposite wall is a comfortable-looking grey glider and ottoman. The glider is stuffed with… you guessed it – little pink-white themed cushions. Over this are bookshelves for Baby Lily’s reading.

Next to this arrangement and directly opposite the crib is the double-dresser-changing station. The rest of the walls have a tastefully picked collection of wall-pieces.

Says Stacey, “My favorite piece in the entire nursery is her elephant balloon tree which is above the changing table.”

Our favorite? ‘When God made me, he said ‘TA-DA!’

Of all the nurseries we have covered so far, this is one nursery where the crib does not take center-stage. Instead, it simply blends into the décor, serving, as it were, a functional need. The reason for this, it seems to us, is quite simple. Everything – every single piece of furniture and accessory – has been carefully selected with not the nursery in mind but Lily Grace in mind.

It is beautiful, it is chic and it is deeply, deeply Lily Grace.

And we just love it all. TA-DA!

Baby Mackenzie’s Windsor Wonderland (Part 2 of 2)

The 2nd and final part of Lisa Nicole’s baby girl Mackenzie’s nursery coverage features a small interview. As always!

What was your inspiration for the nursery design and décor?
My husband and I knew we really wanted to have a neutral tone to the room. Grey was our starter color before we found out the gender. That way we could go either way- pink or blue. I wanted to add pops of pink and gold among the grey wall and furniture to make it really pop. I also love how the grey can transition when she grows older and can be added with any other accent colors she likes when she grows up.

What drew you to évolur over other nursery brands?
The quality of the furniture and design. It’s made sturdy, and very beautiful. We love that the crib can convert to a toddler bed and a kids bed! We also love that the topper can come off the dresser when we no longer need it and we don’t have to get rid of an entire piece of furniture or rearrange any pieces.

Did the room pose any design challenges?
Yes. Because we have a smaller room we had to strategically place the crib, dresser and glider without making the room seem too small. We chose to have a removable changing topper on the dresser instead of having an extra piece of furniture solely for changing diapers. It’s a great option for those who don’t have a large space!

Did you and your spouse agree on style, or did you blend styles and how?
We agreed on the grey. He originally wanted to paint the walls pink, but I knew the grey would last longer as it isn’t “too girly” for when she is a teenager. There’s so many directions you can go with grey!

What accessories did you choose and why?
We chose simple accessories, I didn’t want the room to feel too cluttered. A simple bookshelf to hold her books, a tall side table next to the dresser to hold essentials such as burp cloths, bibs, swaddles, and extra blankets. I knew I wanted a little table next to the glider for when I feed her, read to her and rock her. I’m able to keep my phone and water bottle with me and have a place to set it down on.

What is your favorite piece or design element in the nursery?
My favorite is the crib and the monogram and florals above it. I love how it ties everything together.

Have you thought of how you will use the nursery pieces down the road and can you tell us?
I absolutely love that the crib converts to a toddler bed as well as a big size bed! It will last us a long time and is a beautiful sturdy piece of furniture. Also, if we ever have a boy, it’s not too girly where we can’t reuse it. It’s the perfect gender neutral for any room!

What one word comes to mind when you step into the nursery?
Comforting and elegant.

Baby Mackenzie’s Windsor Wonderland (Part 1 of 2)

Some weeks ago, we posted a snapshot of Californian graphic designer Lisa Nicole‘s baby daughter Mackenzie’s nursery. We reached out to the proud mamma and she was kind enough to share more pictures of this elegant nursery she put together for her daughter featuring the Windsor Curved Top crib.

The base color Lisa used is a neutral, cool shade of grey.
“Grey was our starter color before we found out the gender.” Says Lisa. “That way we could go either way – pink or blue.”
And pink it was in the end.

This is a cosy, clean space with the crib occupying the lion’s share of the available space. It is placed against a wall adjacent to a white, 4- panel louvre window with glass jalousies – perfect for airflow and lighting. The wall against which the crib is set has an ‘M’ monogram set amidst pink flowers in turn surrounded by dotted decal in gold. Another ‘color-coup’, so to speak.

The accessories include simple, minimalist items – a tall side-table and a glider by the crib and against the window corner and a dresser/changing station placed opposite the crib. Little wall mounted book-shelves complete this picture-perfect nursery.

In our next installment, we will talk to Lisa Nicole and find out more.

A piece of heaven on earth – Baby Aubree Skye’s Aurora Nursery (Part 2 of 3)

After 3 boys I’ve been dreaming of a girls nursery for so long…

And then the dream came true. Baby Aubree Skye is Alison Russo’s only girl child and a rainbow baby. Says Alison:

“So her name is Aubree Skye. She is our 4th baby. We have 3 boys. Braydon who is 9, Noah 7, and Blake 3 years old. Aubree is now 10 months old. Our boys are so in love with her! She is our rainbow baby. I unfortunately suffered a miscarriage before her and my husband and i decided our family was complete. Well our lives had a different plan because this little miracle was truly meant to be here. She has completed our family and she continues to bless us everyday. After 3 boys, finding out the gender was a day i will never forget. My ultrasound tech turned the dark ultrasound room pink with pink lights and we all just screamed and my husband and i of course cried! I knew that once i found out we were having a girl that her nursery had to nothing short of amazing ! “

In this post, we talk to Alison and find out what her inspirations for her baby’s nursery were and how she set about putting this charming nursery together.

What was your inspiration for the nursery design and décor?
My inspiration for the nursery design and decor were three simple colors. Pink, Gold, and Grey. I started with colors and then researched different items I knew I wanted.

What drew you to évolur over other nursery brands?
What drove me to évolur over other nursery brands was the look and design. It was everything I was looking for. Pure elegance.

Did the room pose any design challenges?
It’s a bit on the smaller side but no big issues.

Did you and your spouse agree on style, or did you blend styles and how?
My husband pretty much let me take the wheel. He just wanted pink and grey but I assured him to trust me with the gold. He is so happy he did because he loves it. After 3 boys I’ve been dreaming of a girls nursery for so long so he let me do whatever I wanted.

What does this color scheme mean to you?
This color scheme is everything i dreamed a little girls room would be. It was a dream come true to finally be able to put the color pink in our home. The touch of gold is just perfect.

What accessories did you choose and why?
So in the nursery I have her name on the wall in gold and also some gold dots. These are decals that I purchased from Etsy. Since most of her room was grey and pink here is where the touches of gold come in.

Also the flowers on the wall I purchased from Etsy. They were my own color design. Again small touch of gold with the leaves. Also on the wall are some gold picture frames I purchased from Amazon. The pictures inside those frames, I also purchased from Etsy. That was super easy , you purchase the file for $5 and have it printed out at your local staples.

On top of her armoire there are two more frames with sayings. Again frames are from Amazon, sayings are from Etsy. Also on top are mason jars, another little touch of gold. I bought these painted from Etsy and flowers I bought from Micheals craft store.

Her hamper is also gold and purchased from Babies R Us. Curtains and pillows were from Overstock.com. Also her curtain tie backs are from Amazon. Another little touch of gold.

What is your favorite piece or design element in the nursery?
My favorite piece has tome the Armoire. It is so beautiful and elegant, pictures won’t do it justice ! Also my favorite are all the little touches of gold, a perfect element to add elegance.

Have you thought of how you will use the nursery pieces down the road and can you tell us?
I plan on using it forever for her. The quality is amazing and I know it’ll last a lifetime. This furniture will grow with her and will also fit any element we want to change down the road. It’s fit for a princess!

What one word comes to mind when you step into the nursery?
Aw man one word ?? I don’t know if I can say just one ! Haha. If I had to choose just one I think it would be elegance. Its just beautiful and fit for a princess. The furniture is just breathtaking in person. I would sit in her room and rock before she was born and just take it all in. I felt like I was in a fairy tale waiting on our princess. The room just took my breath away. Peaceful, calm, elegant, whimsical, just absolutely beautiful and everything I dreamed of for our daughter and more.

A piece of heaven on earth – Baby Aubree Skye’s Aurora Nursery (Part 1 of 3)

Had I the heavens’ embroidered cloths,
Enwrought with golden and silver light,…

So this poem by W.B. Yeats (for the poetically inclined, the full poem is available here) goes. And this nursery that mom Alison Russo put together for her youngest and only girl, Baby Aubree Skye brings to life this eloquent description of heavenly beauty.

This nursery is all warm pink and grey with gold highlights. The room is well-lit with grey walls that match the furniture – The Aurora collection in Akoya Grey. The room is not over-large and the crib, dresser with changing table, the armoire and a grey glider, all occupy adjacent walls in a flow of neatly arranged, easily accessible baby things.

Everything in this nursery is pure elegance. It’s a little surprising, because while it is almost a cliché – pink and grey complement each other – there would be a definite question mark against the gold. Well, we certainly dropped the q-mark after seeing Alison’s incredible work here.

Since the furniture occupies most of the room, there is not a lot of space left for non-functional items. But then, who needs them? The gold highlights set off the warm pinks in this room so beautifully that one is happy to just soak up all the beauty of this color-play.

The wall decor, however, does include painted flowers over the dresser and gold-framed pictures. The gold decal over the crib leads the eyes to Aubree’s name on the wall over the crib. Also, of course, in gold. A grey carpet covers the room and the finishing touches are provided by the warm pink rugs  – one in front of the crib and one by the glider.

The other little essentials in the room are either ivory or white.

Our next post, as usual, will cover a short interview with the proud and happy mom, where she will tell us why and how this nursery came about. So wait for it.
